Behind the scenes at the House of Commons there are around 2000 members of staff working to make sure Parliament runs smoothly. We serve Parliament, not the government; although our terms of employment are broadly in line with those of civil servants. The House is a unique and friendly workplace. It takes a broad range of skills and experience to run the House of Commons; it is a complex business, so we have a broad range of job roles.
