SHARE Museums East is the Regional Museum Development Programme for the East of England, funded by Arts Council England (ACE). SHARE resources and brokers development opportunities for museums across the region and supports them to deliver against ACE’s five Strategic Goals of Excellence, Audiences, Resilience, Leadership and Diversity, and Children and Young People.
An enthusiastic and self-motivated person is required for the role of Norfolk Museums Development Officer, working with independent museums in the county to support their professional development and organisational resilience. You will provide advice, support and workforce development to museums across the county. They will also work closely with Museums Norfolk, the representative organisation for museums in the county, to raise the profile of Norfolk museums with the public and stakeholders; and to develop partnerships and projects between museums and other bodies including arts, heritage and tourism organisations.
You will have a track record of working in or with museums and heritage organisations and be confident in working with trustees, volunteers and paid staff. You will have an awareness and understanding of the Museum Accreditation Scheme; experience as a Museum Mentor would be useful. You will demonstrate awareness of relevant established sector guidelines, legislation, policies and procedures, and show understanding of how these will impact on future training and development needs. You will have excellent communications skills and be – to chair meetings, lead groups, and facilitate training events. You will be good at managing detail and working projects through to a successful conclusion; experience of preparing funding applications is essential.
